The MPI for Developmental Biology and the FML currently employ about 45 postdocs from more than 20 countries. Pursuing your postdoctoral training at the MPI for Developmental Biology or at the FML means working in an exciting, interdisciplinary and stimulating environment. There are at present 25 groups conducting research on topics covering areas that range from Molecular and Cellular Biology, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Evolutionary and Developmental Biology, Genetics and Ecology to Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. As a postdoc you are offered superb research conditions with well-equipped laboratories and access to world-class onsite facilities.

Support for Postdocs

We offer a number of development opportunities and events, such as the Postdoc Symposium, to help postdocs excel during their time here and help them prepare for the next stage of their career path. The Postdoc Welcome Day gives postdocs the opportunity to get to know the institute's departments and facilities and helps postdocs to network at the institute.

The International Office supports all international postdocs who are coming to work at the Institute.  The International Office Manager will help you to handle the burdens of bureaucracy in order to enable you to concentrate on your research career from the very beginning.

Postdoc Representatives

Brandon Seah (MPI-DB, Research Group Estienne Swart) and

Carolina Sanchez (MPI-DB, Dept. 1, Andrei Lupas).

Two postdocs are elected annually by the postdoc community to represent the institute’s postdocs and help organise them on an institutional level. They help to improve working conditions and serve as a direct link between between the researchers and the MPI directors and administration.

Previous postdoc reps:
